Spiral Dynamics - My Transition from Yellow to Turquoise

If you're not familiar with Spiral Dynamics, here is a short summary:

Spiral Dynamics is a theory that proposes stages of human development, applicable to individuals, societies, and organizations. These stages represent value systems and worldviews that emerge in response to life conditions.

There are eight stages, each with its own core values (like survival, power, achievement, community, etc.).

The stages aren't linear - people can move between them throughout their lives.

No stage is inherently good or bad, but rather a response to its environment.

As societies progress, they tend to move "up" the spiral, but can regress too.

The theory helps us understand why people behave differently and how societies evolve.

The first 21 years of my life I went through the usual first tier stages, just like everyone else. I clearly remember sitting in a bar while I was skipping school, looking out of the window and wondering: Is this all there is? There must be more to life.
The answer came a few years later, during my Kundalini Awakening, which I call Perihelion. Read about it HERE.
This experience allowed me to make a huge jump into the second tier of the spiral and although the peak was only temporary, it gave me enough of a boost to set my new foundation in Yellow. Yellow is the first stage where you can see and really understand the whole spiral below. I spent about 30 years here, studying and integrating my experience. The main driving force was to gather as much data as possible to make sense of the world. I was collecting pieces of a giant puzzle in an effort to gain a clearer picture. I was trying to build my own "theory of everything".

During the past few years however, things started to change. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I knew something was shifting. The fact that I started to meditate was not only a consequence of this feeling, but also a huge further boost that facilitated the ongoing change. Another helpful occurrence was being involved in the "God thread" on a popular forum in Thailand. Here we discussed everything related to spirituality.
After 5 years of doing that, I came to a point where I realized who meaningless it was. (See my previous post HERE). That's when I understood that no amount of new data (new pieces of the puzzle) would bring me one inch closer to the core of Being.
This was the moment I shifted from Yellow to Turquoise, from "knowing" to "being".
The question now is "How can I truly live this knowledge"?

Here is a great video I found that explains the transition from Yellow to Turquoise. I was very impressed by how accurately it portrayed my own shift.

The world looks very different from this perspective. For one, there is no more searching on the outside, there is nothing to add, no race to win. There is a relaxed acceptance of 'what is' instead. Things that seemed important before can now be put aside. The puzzle, now completed, can be framed, hung on the wall and happily forgotten. It feels like I have taken off a very old and tight coat in favour of a new coat that is a couple of sizes too big. I will have to grow into it. One day this coat too will become to tight and will probably have to be ditched.

One day all coats will make for a nice bonfire, and I will walk around completely naked (metaphorically speaking 😅 )

From Bard/Gemini:

Turquoise is considered an advanced stage in Spiral Dynamics Integral, often described as the next step after the achievement-oriented Yellow. Here's what makes it distinct:

Core Values:

  • Holistic worldview: Turquoise emphasizes interconnectedness and oneness with all things – planet, universe, humanity.
  • Global focus: Their concern extends beyond individual or national needs to encompass the well-being of the entire planet.
  • Experiential spirituality: Turquoise individuals seek a deep spiritual connection, often through practices like meditation or nature immersion.

Key Characteristics:

  • Cooperative action: Turquoise seeks solutions to global challenges through collaboration and working together.
  • Integration: They value incorporating all perspectives and knowledge into a unified understanding.
  • Transcending limitations: Turquoise recognizes the limitations of human-made constructs like ideologies and strives for a deeper truth.

Essentially, Turquoise individuals are working towards a harmonious existence for all living things and the planet, emphasizing cooperation and a spiritual connection to everything.
